We, you and I, all of us, have the potential wisdom of the Buddha. But we have not revealed it yet, for it is clouded with too much random thoughts, confusion and desires.
What is wisdom?
The ability to discern or judge what is true and right, from what is not, based on insightful knowledge, deeper understanding, and far-sighted awareness of any situation or circumstance.
How would developing my wisdom help me in my life now?
- To have better self-control over our minds, emotions and actions;
- To find contentment, peace and tranquility within self;
- To be happier, calmer, and have a clearer outlook in all matters;
- To improve our ability to make decisions objectively…and much more.
How may Shurangama Sutra help develop my wisdom?
All Sutras (teachings of the Buddha recorded in writing) and the principles within them are all related. One of the most important Sutras is the Shurangama Sutra because:
- The Shurangama Sutra is for bringing forth great wisdom. If you want to have right knowledge, right views and open great wisdom, the Shurangama Sutra is a very good starting point.
- The Shurangama Sutra is the essence of all Sutras. The existence of the Buddhadharma (teachings of the Buddha) depends on the existence of the Shurangama Sutra.
What is the true principle of this Sutra? Why did the Buddha speak it? If you find the true principle, you will be able to really understand this Sutra.
Where to find out more about the Shurangama Sutra?
This Shurangama Sutra lecture series introduces us to methods of Understanding our Minds, Developing our Wisdom, and helps us explore practical ways to apply this knowledge in Meditation practice, on our personal quest for awakening.
The sessions include bilingual (English & Chinese) Dharma lectures, Dharma review classes, Shurangama Mantra recitation sessions, and short meditation periods, as well as Question & Answer opportunities. Everyone is welcome!
